一、教学目标和要求
1. 知识目标
A. 学习并掌握下列新单词和词组:
island farther farthest
B. 复习提出建议的方法。练习表示距离远近的日常交际用语:
How far is it? Is it far? It’s quite near. It’s about … kilometers away.
2. 能力目标：熟练运用形容词的比较级和最高级。
3. 情感目标：热爱我们的祖国，热爱祖国的大好河山。
二、教学的重点和难点： 形容词的比较级和最高级的运用。
三、教学方法：
1. 创设情景，利用对话、表演等方式巩固Shall we…? Why don’t we…? 等句型。
2. 设计符合生活实际的“任务”,模拟日常生活,从而提高学生运用语言的能力。

五、教学过程:
Step1 Leading-in 创设情景，激发兴趣
1. Daily report.
2. Show a picture, put it on the Bb, teach the new words in this lesson.
T: Now, please look at the picture. Can you see a boat?
Ss: Yes, we can.
T: Right. And can you see some people in the boat?
Ss: Yes.
T: They're students. Now, look. Where are they going? （不等学生回答，接着讲）They're going to visit an island.（write island on the Bb, read it for Ss）
Step2 Pre-task 激活思维，迁移知识
1. Show the map of China. Let the Ss find out Hainan Island and Taiwan Island on the map.
2. T: Bruce and Bill are going to visit an island. Let’s listen to the tape and answer the questions:
Q1: Where are Bruce and Bill going to meet? (at the school gate)
Q2: When are they going to meet? (at six)
3. Open the books and read the dialogue in prat1. Then ask Ss to invite their friends to some places, T can show some places of interest in the city.
4. Act out the dialogues.
Step3 While-task 巩固拓展，达标反馈
1. Show the picture again.
T: Now, answer my question: How many islands can you see in the picture?
Ss: We can see three.
T: Yes, there are three islands. (手指着最小的岛) This one is near, but it’s too small. (手指着中间的岛) This one is farther, but not big enough. (手指最远的岛）This island is large, it’s the farthest.
Write far farther farthest on the Bb.
2. Ask three Ss, let them stand in a low: T --S1 -- S2 --S3
T: S3 is near. S2 is nearer than S3. S1 is the nearest.
Let the three Ss stand like this: T ------ S1------- S2 ------ S3
T: S1 is far. S2 is farther than S1. S3 is the farthest.
Ask Ss say it together, then ask: Who is nearer/ the nearest? Who is farther/ the farthest?
3. Listen to the tape and fill in the blanks. Play the tape twice, then check the answers.
4. T: Which island do the children want to go? Read the dialogue in pairs and find the answer.
5. Solve the puzzle.
There are three island far from here. The first one is the largest. The second is the farthest. The third on is the smallest. The biggest island is more interesting than the farthest. The smallest island is more interesting than the first. Which island is the most interesting, the first, the second or the third?
6. Make a story about you living on an island:
The story maybe begins like this: It was an accident. You went to Japan by ship. The ship sank in the sea. You swam in the sea with only a knife. The sea is so big and you were so tired. At that time, you saw an island in front of you …
Step4 Check 布置作业，提升任务
1. Write down your own story.
2. Finish off the Exercises in the workbook, Lesson 73.
